Following the recent announcement by The Law Society that the new 2022 CQS Core Practice Management Standard became compulsory to follow in practice from 1st May, and CQS accredited firms should have made themselves ‘assessment ready’ by the same date, it is now more important than ever that accredited practices are able to fully demonstrate compliance with the CQS scheme rules when they are selected for an on-site assessment.

Practices will be selected for assessment by The Law Society both reactively and proactively. The assessment will be both technical and qualitative and will require CQS accredited firms to demonstrate compliance with the requirements of the CQS scheme throughout the practice, including the ability to evidence the Core Practice Management Standards and the Conveyancing Protocol through their conduct of conveyancing files so it is important to get this right. Additionally, a key requirement of the Core Practice Management Standard is all relevant persons, which includes key support staff in addition to fee earners and senior conveyancing personnel, are aware of the requirements of the Core Practice Management Standard and how they apply in practice.

To understand what is required of practices to be able to adequately demonstrate compliance with CQS join Tracy Thompson, Lead CQS Assessor on 10th November.

This intensive session will look in detail at the following:

  • Changes to the CQS scheme
  • Possible outcomes from the assessment
  • How to meet the key requirements of the Core Practice Management Standard (CPMS)
  • Implementing the required policies and procedures of CQS within your practice
  • Demonstrating compliance with the standard
  • Common assessment issues
