The planning professions and the development industry are now gearing up to come to terms with the Environment Act 2021, including, in particular, the provisions relating to ‘biodiversity net gain’.  It is imperative that those involved in the planning process start to put systems in place as a matter of some urgency; otherwise, they will face considerable difficulties when these provisions of the Act are triggered.  The starting point is, of course, to seek to understand the Act and this course will provide an overview of some of the key points.  This course is aimed at planning officers, local authority lawyers and developers.  The webinar will include:

  • An overview of the Environment Act 2021.
  • The statutory requirement for biodiversity net gain.
  • The role of the Biodiversity Metric.
  • Ways in which the biodiversity net gain requirement may be incorporated into site-specific planning applications.
