Basic Highway Law

A two-hour, ‘whistle stop tour’ – suitable for highway engineers, rights of way officers, lawyers and developers. The course will cover:

• What is a ‘highway’?
• The creation of highways
• Development and highways: ‘Section 38’ and ‘Section 278’ agreements
• Diverting & stopping up highways
• Obstructions of the highway
• Vegetation/Trees and the highway
• Public rights of way

This course is aimed at newly qualified highway officers, lawyers  and consultants, more experienced professionals who are looking for a quick refresher, and developers and councillors who are new to highway law.
